Apart from various policies implemented by Registrars of Domain names both in Iran and aboard, any dispute arising from unauthorized use of a prior registered identical or similar trademark by third parties as a domain name can be dealt with according to the newly enacted Iranian E-Commerce Act (2004) which clearly provides strong provisions against violators and infringers of rights arising from such registration of trademarks.

Under Article 70 of the said Act, unauthorized use of prior registered identical or similar trademarks by third parties as domain names is considered an act of infringement and violators shall be sentenced to a term in prison for a period of one year to three years and payment of a fine from 10,000,000 Rials to 100,000,000 Rials.
